Michigan voters in November made The Great Lakes state the first in the Midwest to legalize pot. Lake Michigan pollution worries triggered by photos on social media
 
They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. But sometimes even the best pictures need actual words to provide context. This summer, a drone operator took some eye-catching pics of the Kalamazoo River flowing into Lake Michigan. The pics show a blue lake being pushed aside by dark river water. The contrast in water color is stunning. And it has caused more than one observer to fear blatant polluting of a Great Lake was at hand. MORE

It is early. So let's start with that. But, geez, according to our boots on the ground Detroit Lions beat writer Kyle Meinke, Iowa rookie T.J. Hockenson looks really, really good. And he's looked like he belongs from Day 1. (Unlike that other first-round tight end the Lions drafted that didn't find his stride until after his four-season run in Detroit ended.)

National Blueberry Festival starts today in South Haven
 
Blueberry season is in full swing and, as they do each year, South Haven is celebrating.
