Faith and education: How LGBTQ students navigate life at Christian colleges
The majority of American Christians say homosexuality should be accepted. However, many Christian colleges have policies that state that sexual activity should be reserved for marriage between a man and a woman. Such parameters have a profound effect on how LGBTQ students at these institutions can express themselves. And these policies are putting Christian colleges increasingly at odds with the growing societal pressure to affirm the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community. MLive education reporter Lauren Slagter takes an in-depth look at the issues LGBTQ students face on these campuses. MORE

Four Republican gubernatorial candidates took to the stage Wednesday night in Grand Rapids for their first televised debate. The debate season has only just begun, folks! The primary election is Aug. 7. MORE

Hammon gaining traction as future head coach, what about for Detroit?

The Detroit Pistons are in the market for a new head coach. One of the hottest names in NBA coaching circles is Becky Hammon. Is it that crazy to think the Pistons could make history and hire the first female head coach of a major U.S. sports team? It certainly isn't as kooky as the Lions bringing in Matt Millen. (Hammon actually has coaching experience, whereas Millen never held a role in a team front office.) Speculation is fun, but first things first. The Pistons need a president before focusing on their next coach. Anybody have Chauncey Billups' number? MORE
