Governor Whitmer eliminates licensing board for medical marijuana
 
With an executive order, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer eliminated the controversial board that was tasked with issuing licenses for medical marijuana businesses in Michigan. The state-appointed board had been criticized for its slow pace at reviewing and approving licenses, an issue that came to a head as provisioning centers faced a shortage of product in January. The approval process for medical marijuana businesses will now be handled by a new agency within the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.

Jaden Smith unveils water filtration system at Flint church
 
Over the weekend, Jaden Smith made a trip to Flint to unveil a water filtration system. The 20-year-old rapper and actor donated the Water Box system, which can filter a 5-gallon jug of water in 30 seconds, to First Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, where residents will be able to acquire filtered water at scheduled times. The system uses the same filtration technology utilized by Smith's bottled water company, JUST Water. Cheer, bowling, wrestling state finals held for high school athletes

Tears were shed and hugs were handed out as champions were decided in three competitions this weekend. Thirty-two teams competed in the competitive cheer state finals, with winners crowned in four divisions. Meanwhile, bowling state finals were held for girls and boys teams.
