Others are mad if the rule isn't enforced. It frankly leaves retailers in an awkward position. It seems they will be angering someone no matter what, and ostracizing customers is a troublesome thought for business owners who really need to make up income after pandemic-related closures. It isn't just about losing customers, either. A security guard in Flint was fatally shot last month after requiring a customer to wear a mask. MORE

Murals decorate boarded-up storefronts after riots

After protests turned to riots late last month in Grand Rapids, planks of wood were affixed to the windows of storefronts that sustained damage. Now, those once-plain pieces of wood have been transformed into public artwork. Artists dedicated their time to beautifying the downtown area with murals dedicated to the Black Lives Matter movement and the memory of George Floyd. We talked to some of those involved: VIDEO
