Another loss for the Lions |
I hate to say it, but our Detroit Lions have now lost more than they've won so far this season. The Lions (1-2) blew a double-digit lead in their 28-24 loss to the Minnesota Vikings. It's typical, but still disappointing to watch. Soon after, Dan Campbell admitted he blew it on that doomed FG: "I frickin’ regret my decision." Here is our instant observation, video recap and what's being said nationally about the defeat.

Michigan business drops college degree job requirement — it’s not alone |
The change: Pontiac commercial printer Company Folders, Inc. no longer requires job candidates to have college degrees. Now, they are gaining employees learning onsite who, after some time, are "pretty much as good as anybody else."
They're not alone: By analyzing 51 million job postings, researchers found degree requirements were dropped from 46% of middle-skill and 31% of high-skill jobs between 2017 to 2019. And an Indeed survey of 502 U.S. employers found 59% would consider cutting the requirement in the future.
More companies considering: A May survey conducted by Cengage Group, an education tech company, found 65% of employers are struggling to hire. Of those, two-thirds believe removing degree requirements could fill staffing gaps. |

Michigan DNR eyes inland lake restrictions on wakesurfing boats |
In the talks: Powerful wakes thrown by specialized boats which people surf behind is drawing scrutiny from state officials, who are recommending restrictions on where and how the boats can operate on Michigan’s inland lakes. A proposal: The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is proposing larger shoreline buffers and lake depth requirements for people operating “wake boats,” a type of heavy-draft inboard motor powerboat designed for wakesurfing, a watersport that’s growing in popularity.
Speaking of lakes: Fall temperatures may be here, but the Great Lakes are still warmer than they were on the Fourth of July. See peak summer ‘22 temperatures for each lake. |
