 As a small group of President Donald Trump's supporters protested outside, Michigan's electors were inside the Capitol Building Monday afternoon confirming they would cast the state's 16 Electoral College votes to President-elect Joe Biden. States across the country held similar ceremonies yesterday as the Electoral College met to sign documents that reflect certified results of the November presidential election. Trump supporters and the president himself have refused to admit Biden won the election. Michigan Democratic Party Chair Lavora Barnes said Monday’s vote affirms that U.S. institutions remain strong under pressure. “The system works,” Barnes said. Nine months later, the company has delivered. Trucks carrying the vaccine departed the Portage facility on Sunday, Dec. 13, bound for those who need it most across the nation. The coronavirus vaccine is now the fastest produced vaccine in history, far surpassing the mumps vaccine that was developed in four years and distributed to the public in 1977.  Jeff Okudah’s season is over, while Matthew Stafford’s might not be. If everything goes well, he could even play again this week. The X-rays came back negative on Stafford’s injured ribs, and the Detroit Lions will monitor his progress this week before making a call on his availability for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. “You guys know how tough Matthew is,” interim head coach Darrell Bevell said on Monday evening. “This will be a deal where we take it to the end of the week."
