Today's storms could pack thunder, winds to 60 mph, chance for tornado |
National Weather Service meteorologists say there is increasing confidence that areas in Michigan could see some severe weather this afternoon. The bulk of the Lower Peninsula is now in the marginal risk area for some elements of a severe storm. Timing-wise, the possible severe storm window is from noon to 7 p.m. While it will be windy for much of the day, with gusts up to 45 mph, winds could gust to 60 mph during that late-day storm window. These storms could also mean lightning, thunder and the chance for an isolated tornado or two. Eager to bloom: A whiplash weather system has set off some tulips to start blooming in downtown Holland, generating rumors of another Stem Fest.
