Faces of Electric Forest 2023: Portraits show the personalities of the ‘Forest Family’

There's no shortage of creativity on display during Electric Forest. From brightly colored makeup to body paint, some members of the "Forest Family", the affectionate nickname of festival attendees, adorn themselves with intricate costumes during the four day festival.

This year, the popular music and camping festival drew about 50,000 people from around the country to Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, a rural area just north of Muskegon County.

Michigan drivers are about to pay more for car insurance. Here’s why.

Paying the price: Beginning Saturday, July 1, drivers with unlimited personal injury protection (PIP) coverage will have to pay $122 per vehicle to the Michigan Catastrophic Claims Association (MCAA). That’s an increase of $36 from last year’s MCAA fee. For all other insurance plans, drivers will owe $48 per vehicle after not paying a deficit recoupment fee last year.

Pending layoffs: Southeast Michigan workers will feel the brunt of the Ford layoffs this week as the automaker resizes its North American workforce.

A new listing: The former Flint home of Charles Nash, co-founder of Buick Motor Co. and former president of General Motors, is for sale, but the historic structure won’t necessarily be sold to the highest bidder.

Republicans deny climate science in Michigan clean energy hearing

Challenging the facts: A Michigan House hearing grew heated last week as Republicans questioned established climate science and attacked proposed Democratic clean energy legislation using what some climate experts characterized as fear-based arguments rooted in misinformation.

Staying plugged in: Michigan is set to receive more than $1.5 billion in federal dollars through the Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) Program. The funding will expand high-speed internet access and digital equity to over 200,000 Michiganders in unserved and underserved areas across the state.
