Why hasn't Michigan set PFAS standards for drinking water yet?
Michigan touts its PFAS contamination detection work. And, by most accounts, it is among the best in the nation. However, it is curious why the state has yet to set standards for PFAS in drinking water. As of this week, 55 municipal water systems in our state have found at least traces of PFAS in their supply. A House bill to enact a strict standard has languished in committee for most of the year. The Michigan Legislature earlier this month finally announced plans to hold PFAS hearings after the election. MLive reporter Garret Ellison takes a look at some possible reasons why the state is taking so long to take the logical next step with PFAS. MORE

Pistons success this season dependent on health of Big Three
hat
The Detroit Pistons are a franchise desperate to reach the playoffs. However, they won't escape the NBA Lottery if their top three players can't stay healthy. First-year coach Dwane Casey inherited a team with an injury-prone starting point guard (Reggie Jackson), an aging veteran star forward with a burdensome contract (Blake Griffin), and a stud center with occasional hustle issues (Andre Drummond). Add in a supporting cast featuring more questions than answers and it's hard to predict where this team will end up. At least the Pistons got their first win of the year out of the way. (Something the Red Wings are struggling to do!) MORE
