Michigan mother of six deported to Mexico after 30 years in U.S.
A 45-year-old mother of six was deported Tuesday. She'd been in the U.S. since she was 15, living in Michigan since 2003. She left behind five adult children and nine grandchildren. Her 13-year-old daughter, who is a U.S. citizen, went with her to live in Mexico. Such are the details of the case of Maria Yante-Avina - an illegal immigrant and law breaker to some - a victim of a broken system to others. It is impossible to avoid the entrenched battle lines of the immigration debate. MORE
