Michigan Republicans vote against impeachment inquiry passed by House Dems
 
Not a single Republican in the U.S. House gave support to an impeachment inquiry passed on Thursday. That includes all six of Michigan's Republican congressmen, who all voted "no" and claimed the process has been unfair and secretive. U.S. Rep. Tim Walberg of Tipton said the impeachment inquiry was "broken from day one." While Michigan Democrats voted in favor of the inquiry, they mainly stayed silent after the vote, though Dan Kildee of Flint made a statement, saying "sadly this is a necessary step to uphold and defend our constitution." Bills would let all apply for license, regardless of immigration status

Those applying for a driver's license in Michigan would no longer have to prove U.S. citizenship as part of the process, under bills introduced by Democratic state lawmakers Thursday. Under the proposed legislation, applicants would only need to meet age and residency requirements. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer voiced support for the bills, but they will likely face a hard time in the Republican-controlled legislature. MORE

Mackinac Island 'angels' give woman with stage 4 cancer dream vacation
 
An offer for a free night at her favorite vacation spot turned into a dream trip for Debbie Kornusky last week. Kornusky, who was diagnosed earlier this year with stage four cervical cancer, found herself in tears on more than one occasion during the Mackinac Island trip, as people she calls "angels" orchestrated a series of special surprises. Michigan State's Joe Bachie suspended by Big Ten for failing drug test

Michigan State's football team cannot seem to catch a break lately. In addition to a string of losses, the Spartans are now without star linebacker Joe Bachie. The senior, who serves as co-captain, has been suspended by the Big Ten after they say he failed a random drug test, testing positive for a "performance-enhancing substance." Bachie said he plans to appeal. MORE
