Crisis causes delays in health care, sometimes with deadly consequences

Coronavirus isn't the only health issue facing Michigan residents. But because of the contagious virus, it appears some people are avoiding hospital emergency departments, even when they have a medical emergency. Doctors across the state say this avoidance is creating serious consequences for patients. Some Michigan residents have even died after putting off a trip to the hospital, the doctors say. Michigan Medicine in Ann Arbor reports adult emergency department visits have dropped by half during the pandemic, with pediatric visits down by two thirds. MORE

But without the ability to have one at home, you had to go to the bathhouse or the local pool. And most people swam au naturel. MORE

With shortened MLB season in 2020, even Tigers would have chance
hat
Perhaps these delays in the sports world will benefit someone after all. No one expected the Tigers could be a contender in 2020. But maybe they could. Maybe anyone could come out on top if the season gets condensed, which is what has to happen if the MLB plays at all this year. During a shorter season, there is less time for the best teams and the worst teams to distance themselves from the rest. Does that mean the Tigers could benefit? It's possible. MORE

Last week, we had a blast on Facebook. If you missed it, we had five star-studded nights of Facebook live shows to support Michigan's hospitality workers who aren't able to work amid the coronavirus pandemic. We got a visit from Tim Allen, caught up with Ginger Zee and got to hear Brian Vander Ark from The Verve Pipe play a lovely rendition of "The Freshmen." If you missed any of the shows, you can still watch them. Or, hey, if you already saw them, you can now skip to your favorite parts. MORE
