It's an election year. Do you know who your candidates are? |
If you are the type of person who reads this newsletter on a regular basis — the kind of person who thinks it's important to know what is going on across your state — we are going to guess that you regularly exercise your right to vote.
But even for the most well-read among us, it can be really difficult to know who is running in each race and what they believe. Of course, that's before we even get into millages and proposals. That's why we teamed up with the League of Women Voters to make the process easier.
This election guide will help you sort out the what's what and the who's who before the August and November elections. I personally bookmark this guide and go back to it often. There is a lot to take in. But we really hope this information makes you feel prepared to cast your ballot.

If you or someone you know needs rental assistance, the deadline to apply is tomorrow. |
June 30 at 9 p.m.: That's the deadline for the COVID Emergency Rental Assistance program. Assistance will be provided until funding runs out on the billion-dollar program that provides rent and utility money to Michiganders.
Spreading the word: “Right now, we’re just really just trying to beat the drum of getting everybody to apply,” said Kelly Rose, Chief Housing Solutions Officer for the Michigan State Housing Development Authority.
Who qualifies? Only renters who earn less than 80% of the area median income and experienced a COVID-19 economic hardship are eligible for the program. Households that are homeowners, land contract holders or those living in commercial properties do not qualify. Find out more here.
