The good news: Michiganders saw higher incomes last year. In 2018, the state's median household income was $56,697, up from $54,909 in 2017. The bad news: When considering inflation, the numbers are still below pre-recession levels. We are actually still about 5% below that number. When looking at poverty rates in Michigan, those are slightly down for 2018, but our state is still above the national average, according to the Census data.
