Guide to Miss Michigan 2019, featuring the 24 contestants
 
The 69th annual Miss Michigan Scholarship Program is this week at the grand Frauenthal Center in downtown Muskegon. The festivities begin today with the preliminary rounds of the 2019 Miss Michigan's Outstanding Teen Program. The Miss Michigan Program features a few changes this year, notably there are no more swimsuits. The evening gown phase of the competition also will have a different look. Armed neo-Nazis at pride parade 'wanted Charlottesville No. 2'
 
Detroit Police Chief James Craig was applauding the actions of his department over the weekend in avoiding a potentially violent situation. Armed neo-Nazis interrupted the Motor City Pride Festival and tensions were high. Craig was among the officers responding to the situation. "We kept both groups separate, we had good communication with both groups, and as it turned out, there was no violence." MORE

RNC chairwoman says winning Michigan will be harder for Trump in 2020
 
President Donald Trump won Michigan in the 2016 election by nearly 11,000 votes. In the process, he became the first Republican presidential candidate to win the state since 1988. Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said she still believes Trump will win Michigan in 2020, but there certainly are challenges to overcome for him to do so. MORE

On the toughest streets of Detroit, the real Teez Tabor opens up
hat 
Detroit Lions cornerback Teez Tabor was a brash, unapologetic playmaker in college at Florida. He doesn't say much these days as he tries to find his way in the NFL. However, he found his voice last week when speaking to a group of Detroit students. And, boy, does he have a story to tell. Here is an excerpt from Kyle Meinke's story: "Tabor is 522 miles from Washington D.C., but looks and sounds like he's on the block back home. He was these kids, after all, growing up amidst drug dealers and gang bangers, and it wasn't that long ago either. He's still only 23. Now he's pouring out his life story, hoping it can help these boys survive, too." MORE
