The United States' response to coronavirus escalated quickly Wednesday, with public universities suspending in-person classes and the NBA suspending its season. While residents were certainly aware of COVID-19 before it reached Michigan, there are additional questions popping up now that multiple cases have been confirmed within the state. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer declared a state of emergency and the World Health Organization has officially classified coronavirus as a global pandemic. College classes, events canceled in Michigan amid coronavirus fears

Michigan State, Central Michigan and the University of Michigan were among the early list of universities across the state to suspend in-person classes Wednesday, opting for online learning to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19. By Wednesday night, all public universities in the state had suspended in-person classes. Additionally, events around Michigan are being canceled:

NBA suspends season, fans banned from NCAA tournament due to coronavirus
 
March Madness will be noticeably different this year. The wildly popular NCAA basketball tournament will occur without fans in the bleachers to cheer on their teams. Only essential staff and family will be allowed to attend the tournament games, which start March 17. Wednesday night, the NBA announced it was suspending the season after a Utah Jazz player tested positive for coronavirus. Of course, you will still be able to fill out a bracket.
