New owners of Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel being sued by legendary designer

Back in September of 2019, Mackinac Island's iconic Grand Hotel changed ownership for the first time in nearly nine decades. Now the new owners, international investment group KSL Capital Partners, are being sued by legendary interior designer Carleton Varney. Varney is president of Dorothy Draper and Co. in New York, one of the oldest established interior design firms in the United States. He is credited with the restoration and decoration of the Grand Hotel. Varney has filed a lawsuit claiming that his personal belongings were sold off with the property, including some of his presidential and Hollywood memorabilia. MORE

hat
In the past two months, Ben Cohen -- owner of Cohen's Small House Farm in Sanford, Michigan -- has sold more seeds online than he has in the past three years. If you've had trouble finding them online, or if you're looking to support Michigan companies primarily, we have six Michigan companies listed here that sell locally grown, heirloom vegetable seeds online. MORE
