See exactly what is allowed and what is restricted under new Michigan health department order Last night, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer announced new restrictions going into place this week to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 amid a statewide surge. An order from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services goes into effect at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday, limiting certain types of activities throughout the state. The order, which is set to last for three weeks, bans dine-in services at restaurants and bars, in-person college and high school classes and most organized sports. Theaters, bowling alleys and arcades must also shut down, under the order.
