Notre Dame Cathedral burns and the world weeps
 
Humanity lost an irreplaceable piece of history Monday. Fire broke out at the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral in the heart Paris, France as the building was closing for the evening. The conflagration quickly spread and towering flames eventually engulfed the roof and the steeple. Fire officials struggled to battle the blaze due to the location of the cathedral: An island in the River Seine. MORE

Record-setting snowfall gives way to spring (finally)
 
Nothing like a record setting April snowfall. Are we right??? Seriously, though, nearly a foot of snow fell Sunday just north of Big Rapids. Ridiculous. MLive chief meteorologist Mark Torregrossa says this should be the last of accumulating snow for most of the lower peninsula. So we've got that going for us. Which is nice. MORE

He meet with a union representing skilled trade workers in Coopersville and held a campaign rally at Macomb Community College in Warren. SVSU vacates wins as part of NCAA penalties

Saginaw Valley State University in 2017 self reported improper certifications of amateur athletes. The NCAA in February announced steep penalties, including that SVSU must vacate hundreds of wins earned during a five year period from 2013 to 2018. A university spokesman confirmed the penalties and the sports programs effected. MORE
