 When Michigan reopened indoor dining at restaurants for the first time last spring, some businesses and customers were so eager to reunite, they celebrated at midnight – as if it were a Harry Potter movie release. The latest victory for the business industry is the reopening of offices for all workers, which can start Monday, May 24. But don’t expect May 24 to bring swift changes and traffic jams. While business leaders are excited to reopen offices for the first time in 14 months, many won’t reopen their spaces right away. Even the state of Michigan doesn’t plan to bring remote workers back to offices until July 12, a state spokesperson said. But lack of rain aside, you’ll love the sunshine, light winds and slowly warming temperatures on the way." -- Read more from MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa on the lovely weather headed our way here in Michigan: MORE  An independent report was released Tuesday detailing years of sexual abuse by a late University of Michigan athletic doctor, and failings by university employees who could have stopped the abuse. The 240-page report goes into detail about Robert Anderson, who worked at the university from 1966 until 2003. He died in 2008. Survivors of Anderson’s abuse came forward throughout 2020. “We have no doubt, based on the evidence available to us, including the first-hand accounts of his patients, that Dr. Anderson engaged in a pervasive, decades-long, destructive pattern of sexual misconduct,” the report states.  Penei Sewell opted out of his final season at Oregon because of concerns about COVID-19. Now he has announced he tested positive for the virus just days before he was scheduled to arrive in Detroit for rookie minicamp, which begins on Friday. He is not expected to participate. Sewell is the centerpiece of Detroit’s latest draft class, a seventh overall pick who was considered the best offensive lineman in the country. The Lions were so excited to land him that they nearly traded up two spots for the 331-pounder, then rejected trade offers to move down when they were on the clock to ensure they got their guy. MORE  A mid-century modern home designed by Alden B. Dow is on the market in Midland for $675,000. Dow designed the home for George Greene, a plant engineer with the Dow Chemical Co., in 1936. It was the second of three houses Dow designed for a cul-de-sac on the edge of the Midland Country Club golf course, according to abdow.org. The home was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. Dow, who is known for his mid-century modern architecture, designed more than 100 homes and buildings throughout Midland.
