January 11, 2022 More Michigan children have been hospitalized with COVID-19 in the last few weeks than at any point in the pandemic. As of Friday, there were 135 pediatric patients with confirmed or suspected cases in Michigan hospitals, accounting for about 2.8% of COVID patients. This was up from 78 one week earlier and 61 pediatric patients in mid-December, when the state set a record for COVID hospitalizations. Children, at that time, made up up 1.3% of COVID patients. “We are seeing more and more pediatric patients being admitted, and I think it is because it is so contagious,” said Dr. Dennis Cunningham.
