It's going to be a severely windy day in Michigan

Michigan is going through a lot right now, and the weather today won't make that any easier. Two types of weather are hitting different areas of the state - with strong wind gusts rolling through lower Michigan and up to 2 feet of snow headed to the U.P. Wind gusts are expected to be between 45 mph and 55 mph. That has homeowners on the lakeshore on high alert for even more erosion. In Southeast Michigan - the area of the state currently hit hardest by COVID-19 infections - the concern is power outages. And north of the bridge, they are thinking about that possibility of 2 feet of snow. MORE

Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey
A fight between Whitmer and a GOP leadership that thinks stay-at-home order goes too far

Friday night, a day after Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer extended the state's stay-at-home order to April 30, Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, R-Clark Lake, let loose on social media, arguing that the governor's actions were "destroying our health by killing our livelihoods." House Speaker Lee Chatfield, R-Levering, also spoke up, questioning the governor's classifications of what's essential and what's not during Michigan's battle against the spread of COVID-19. The following day, Whitmer stood her ground and defended the extension. MORE

A man remembered and a tale of one tough cookie

Roger Liddell was the type of guy who seemed like was always in a good mood, always smiling. That's how his McLaren Flint Hospital family is remembering him after he died Friday due to complications from COVID-19. He began showing symptoms just a few days before being admitted to the very hospital where he worked. There was also a story of hope from West Michigan, as Marie Moran - a 79-year-old woman with asthma - left the hospital amid fanfare from nurses. MORE
