9/11 remembrances planned across Michigan to commemorate 18th anniversary of attacks
 
Sept. 11 is a day of remembrance across the country. Here in Michigan, first responders, college kids and Boy Scouts are among those who will mark the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks with special ceremonies. In Grand Rapids, Mike Ford, son of former President Gerald Ford, will speak during the day-long West Michigan Community Day of Remembrance and Scout Salute. In Kalamazoo County, a 9/11 Commemorative Service is planned at a church in Portage. A public Ceremony of Remembrance will be held at Eastern Michigan University's 9/11 memorial and runners in the Saginaw area will complete a Heroes 5K at Saginaw Valley State University to benefit the Travis Manion Foundation. MORE

Mackinac Island's Grand Hotel sold
 
One of Michigan's iconic landmarks is changing hands. Grand Hotel, the well-known  Mackinac Island monument, will no longer belong to the Mussers, the family that has owned it for decades. They announced on Tuesday that an international investment group will soon take over. The announcement comes just a month after the Musser family publicly denied rumors that the hotel was for sale. MORE
