Michigan searches for source of PFAS contamination in Huron River
Early this month, an urgent "do not eat" warning was issued for fish caught along the Huron River in three Michigan counties. Fish there tested at three to four times the state's maximum safety threshold for PFAS. But where did the chemicals come from? That's a question state officials are still investigating. The communities along the Huron River aren't alone in their quest for answers regarding PFAS. Municipalities across the state are facing contamination and pondering how to resolve a somewhat new and completely complicated problem that is affecting water supplies and residents throughout Michigan. MORE

Michigan State unveils 19-member presidential search committee
 
A total of 19 people are now tasked with finding the next president of Michigan State University. Committee members include seven faculty members, four members of the MSU Board of Trustees, three alumni, two administrators, two students and the union president for support staff. The group is expected to name a new president for the university by June 2019 following the resignation of Lou Anna K. Simon earlier this year. Absent from the committee is former Michigan Governor John Engler, who is serving as interim president. State residents need not be on the committee to offer input.
