Deadline looms for homeless living in Kalamazoo hotels as long-term solutions are explored Until May 31, some of those previously experiencing homelessness in Kalamazoo have hotel roofs over their heads. But when that date comes, time is up for those taking shelter in at least one of those properties. In a city with a 97% occupancy rate, where affordable housing is hard to come by, what is the solution for these residents? While some have spent the last few months living in the hotels, others have been staying at Kalamazoo’s outdoor encampments. Sure, more than 150 million Americans have received at least one dose of vaccine so far. But what about the long-term health implications? Don’t we need more time to figure that out? Nope, health experts say. In fact, problematic reactions to vaccines typically are almost immediate. This is the first year the NFL’s regular season will expand to 17 games, with the Lions drawing a road trip to face the Denver Broncos through the added contest. Notable highlights for the first campaign of the Brad Holmes-Dan Campbell regime include a Monday Night Football matchup with the Packers in Green Bay in Week 2, the Chicago Bears on Thanksgiving and the season finale back at Ford Field against the Packers. Someone happened to capture a dust devil zipping through a Michigan field earlier this week. It was a rare opportunity for Randy Richardson, who snagged the video near Vicksburg, since Michigan usually does not have the right conditions for dust devils. In order for this phenomenon to occur, you need empty fields with very dry soil on a sunny day with light wind. Michigan farm fields are only empty in April and May, when the soil is typically damp in our state. WATCH HERE Get your local news 24/7 Ann Arbor | Bay City | Flint | Grand Rapids Connect with MLive
