January 12, 2021 The Michigan State Police increased its visible security presence at the Capitol in Lansing after deadly riots in Washington D.C. that could be followed by armed protests at state capitol buildings across the country. A spokesperson for the Michigan State Police said law enforcement officials are aware of demonstrations organized by online groups for Jan. 17, three days before President-elect Joe Biden will be inaugurated. The FBI reportedly distributed a memo to law enforcement agencies across the U.S. warning armed protests are being planned at state capitols and at least one group is calling for “storming” government buildings if President Donald Trump is removed from office before Jan. 20. Gretchen Whitmer announced she sent a letter to Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar requesting permission to directly purchase up to 100,000 more doses of vaccines for Michigan residents. They did on Friday, inking Harbaugh to a four-year extension that keeps him under contract to Michigan through 2025. The pact was economically friendly to the school, lowering Harbaugh’s guaranteed base pay per year to about $4 million.
