Where to hunt for the main ingredient in venison stew
 
The 2019 hunting season is off and running. (Probably more running is involved if you are a deer.) Archery season began on Oct. 1. It runs through Nov. 15, takes a two week break for firearm hunters, then returns on Dec. 1 and closes out the year. The DNR reports this year's deer herd is "abundant" in southern Lower Michigan.
