Michigan evaluates roads on a scale of 1 to 10. How do your local roads rate? |
Rating the roads: Michigan has a rating system for its roadways. They are rated on a scale of 1 to 10. Roads rated 8 to 10 are considered “good,” roads rated 5 to 7 are “fair” and roads with a rating of 1 to 4 are considered “poor.” See how roads in your area rate. 1 in 3 roads are in 'poor' condition: As we recently reported, Michigan has more miles of “poor” roads than miles of “good” ones. The state evaluated 96% of its federal-aid roads, and 25.8% of them are in “good” condition, 41.9% are in “fair” condition and 32.2% are in “poor” condition. Speaking of roads: The Kalamazoo City Commission approved a contract Monday for the redesign of a one-way street into a two-way street. Some commissioners shared concerns about the nearly $1 million price tag for the design of the road. |

Michigan basketball favorite John Beilein reflects on his first season with the Pistons. |
A year in Detroit: Former University of Michigan basketball coach John Beilein had a different view this year, as he completed his first season working for the Detroit Pistons. As a senior adviser for player development, he isn't on the sidelines, but instead seven or eight rows back, making observations and taking notes.
Beilein said he "loved it:" “It was so rewarding,” Beilein said of his work. “Even if you didn’t see it in scoreboard, I would see a Killian Hayes go into paint, pivot two or three times, and hit somebody for a shot. Whether it went in or out, it was a small victory for me." NBA Draft lottery: The Detroit Pistons earned the fifth overall pick in the upcoming NBA Draft set to take place on June 23. This year they fell two spots after finishing the season with the third-worst record at the end of the regular season. |
