Police chief: Shooting of three officers a 'sobering reminder' of job's peril

Three officers were shot and a homeowner was killed late Sunday night during a hostage situation near Kalamazoo. A suspect broke into a house and held a family hostage. Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety Chief Karianne Thomas lamented the "tragic loss" of life and said the events were a "sobering reminder" of the on-the-job dangers first responders face. MORE
