There are empty chairs and barstools at eateries and taverns across Michigan. While some restaurants continue to offer take-out and delivery options, many workers are home, and less money is coming in. There are kegs of green beer sitting in bars, leftover orders from a St. Patricks Day that was never celebrated. And that's just a glimpse at one of many small business segments in Michigan facing hardship amid the coronavirus pandemic. Michigan surpasses 15,000 coronavirus cases, with 617 deaths reported
 
There are now 15,718 confirmed cases of the coronavirus COVID-19 in Michigan. An additional 1,493 cases were reported by the state Sunday. It's a small increase in the number of new cases compared to Saturday's report, but significantly fewer new cases than officials reported on Friday. The death toll throughout Michigan is now at 617 after 77 deaths were added to the statewide total yesterday. MORE

TCF Center in Detroit turned into field hospital for COVID-19 patients
 
Crews have been busy inside the TCF Center in downtown Detroit, working to make the large venue into a field hospital for patients with coronavirus. There will be 1,000 beds inside the facility, used to supplement capacity at area hospitals. With southeast Michigan seeing the majority of the state's COVID-19 cases, health care facilities in the region have reported issues keeping up with the need for beds during the pandemic. MORE
