Michigan teachers struggle in 'lost decade' of salary decline
 
The salaries of Michigan teachers are declining. Over the past decade, studies show Michigan educators have taken a 12-percent hit to their paychecks. That's one of the steepest salary declines faced by teachers anywhere in the country. Some experts link teacher pay to a shortage of educators in Michigan and beyond. One teacher we spoke with called it a "hopeless situation" and admitted she deters others from entering the field. "Anyone that could get out would get out," Cindi Rossi said. MORE

Michigan's legal medical marijuana market still full of illegal product
 
Six months of regulated medical marijuana sales have passed in Michigan, but the market is still dominated by an illegal source of product. Only seven percent of medical marijuana sold by licensed provisioning centers comes from licensed businesses, while the other 93 percent comes from caregivers. To the students at Stony Brook University, Samuel Stanley Jr. is a superhero. During Stanley's final graduation ceremony at the Long Island school, students presented him with a cape and a custom-made superhero T-shirt with a logo for "Super Stanley." A doctor and researcher, Stanley is known as a soft-spoken leader who listens to those around him. Beer run marks recovery milestone for Michigander
