Michigan Beyond: The water problems that lurk below 
 
The issues with Michigan's infrastructure include not only our crumbling roadways, but our aging water systems. Of course, Flint is the glaring example of a worst case scenario - not only for Michigan, but the entire country. (We still are not sure if those living outside that community grasp that many residents there continue to use bottled water for all their water needs.) However, Flint isn't the only community faced with water distribution problems, and old lead pipe lines are only one of the many challenges that must be met. MORE

MSU trustees outline one-year plan to name new president
 
Michigan State University trustees Dianne Byrum and Melanie Foster outlined a plan to have a new president in place in June 2019. The process includes forming a search committee, selecting a search firm to assist in gathering qualified candidates, and conducting interviews. The committee will have about 15 members, and will include faculty, staff, deans, students and alumni. The trustees said interim MSU president John Engler will not be part of the search process. MORE

Beilein excited as team starts prep for 2018-19 season
 
John Beilein entertained a brief flirtation with the head coaching job with the Detroit Pistons this offseason. He bowed out of the race before the Pistons went with Dwane Casey. However, Beilein said this week he hoped his status as an NBA-caliber coach - and the quality of his assistant coaches - will have a positive effect on the profile and credibility of the Michigan basketball program.
