Recreational marijuana expected to be legal in Michigan by Dec. 6
Michigan voters approved the legalization of recreational marijuana use earlier this month. That didn't mean Michiganders could start using it immediately. Why the delay? First, the board of canvassers have to certify the results of the election. Then another 10 days must pass. It appears that date will fall on Dec. 6, according to state officials, exactly one month after the approval of Proposal 1. Once the law takes effect, adults 21 and older will be allowed to grow, possess and consume marijuana. But there are plenty of intricacies to the law that should be understood by those planning to partake. MORE

2 hunters killed in opening days of firearm deer season
 
As hunters headed out to partake in firearm deer season, two men were killed in separate incidents. According to police, one of the shooting deaths was apparently accidental. One hunter appeared to inadvertently shoot another hunter Thursday in Antrim County, near Traverse City. On Friday, a man was found dead in a shooting in Bath Township near Lansing. The fatally injured hunter was wearing orange at the time of the shooting, according to police. Authorities announced they were looking for the shooter. The death occurred on private property, officials said. MORE

90-year-old shipwreck, caused by herd of cows, found in Lake Huron
 
The Manasoo, a steal steamer, wrecked in Lake Huron in 1928. It wasn't until 90 years later that the remains of the ship were discovered. When the wreck occurred, the majority of the crew was killed, with only five men surviving. Also on board were 115 cows and a bull that all died when the ship went down. The animals were estimated to weigh 60 tons. It's said the ship went down in about 3 minutes. The remain, found in Lake Huron, are said to be "amazingly intact." MORE
