September 30, 2020 Lake Michigan is a destination for families and water-lovers from near and far. The beautiful body of fresh water is beloved as a spot for relaxation and recreation. But while it is perhaps the favorite of the Great Lakes, it is also the most deadly. More people, in fact, have died by drowning in Lake Michigan this year than in all the other Great Lakes combined. Just last week, another tragedy occurred, when a 12-year-old from Tennessee died after he was swept into the water in Frankfort. We talked to experts about what exactly makes the popular lake so dangerous. We also spoke with family members of some of those who have been lost to the lake. If you requested a mail-in ballot, you might have already received it. For some, it will be the first time using an absentee ballot to vote, since the coronavirus pandemic has led to an unprecedented percentage of the electorate opting in. There are some things to remember when dealing with an absentee ballot. We highlight eight mistakes that you'll want to avoid when voting absentee. That means a larger number of ex-Tigers will pop up in the playoffs this year. Twenty players who were once part of the Detroit Tigers system will play for 13 of the 16 teams participating in the 2020 MLB playoffs. Many of the names have been on this list many, many times before, like Yankees relievers Chad Green and Luis Cessa. Take a look: MORE Over the weekend, artists and community members came together in Old Town Saginaw to paint murals on three intersections. The Great Mural Project Paint-A-Thon was the result of a $25,000 grant awarded by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Asphalt Art Initiative, which annually chooses 16 small- to mid-sized cities across the U.S. for grants that fund visual art interventions. Saginaw's project involved 20 artists and groups of volunteers who helped local residents put their mark on the roadways.
