In today's newsletter, tests scores for Michigan students are on the decline, a major staircase at Pictured Rocks is destroyed by storm erosion and we catch up with boxing champion Claressa Shields. |
Planning for trick-or-treating next week? Let's check in with Mark for the forecast. |
A couple years ago, here in Kalamazoo, I remember the first snow of the year falling on Halloween. It's kind of a bummer for the little ones to have to deal with the snow, but it is probably a bigger pain for the adults accompanying them to acquire candy. If you are one of those adults, you'll be happy to know MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa is keeping a close eye on the forecast for Monday. What is he seeing? Well, you can find out here. He also provides some appropriate costume ideas for the expected weather conditions.
Mark will keep watching the forecast to give you updates as the candy-filled holiday gets closer. Make sure to keep an eye on our MLive weather page for his latest stories. You can also catch him live each weekday morning on our Facebook page. And if you really like weather, join our Facebook group. |

The gloves come off in the second Whitmer-Dixon debate. |
Debate No. 2: The second debate between Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Republican challenger Tudor Dixon saw personal attacks interspersed with competing plans for Michigan’s future. Both candidates had no qualms going after the other. What they said: Dixon was hard on the attack throughout the debate, calling Whitmer “dishonest,” “manipulative” and a “career politician.” Whitmer returned in kind, calling Dixon “bankrolled by Betsy DeVos” and “ill-prepared” to run the state. Also in politics: Though Democrats in the House have continued to outraise their Republican counterparts at the caucus level, Republicans in both chambers appear to have more money left in the bank to spend as the days creep closer to the election. |
