A history of the oil spills and battles around Michigan's Enbridge Pipeline Enbridge Energy is working to get the permits needed to replace a section of the controversial Line 5 pipeline that runs under the Straits of Mackinac. The company is hoping within a year that everything necessary will be in place to create the new piece of pipeline in a tunnel and bury the tunnel under the bedrock of the Straits. Enbridge initially had a 2024 projected completion date, but a fight over the oil pipeline has stalled the project. While the state's top government officials and environmental groups work to rid the Great Lakes of Line 5, Enbridge has continued its work toward the replacement line. But what happened against the Cardinals did not repeat itself yesterday at Ford Field. Instead, the Lions did something familiar -- falling very flat after blowing a double-digit lead early against the Saints. That leaves the Lions with 12 losses in their last 13 games.
