As we end the work week, let's look at the days ahead. Wondering what weather will be like this weekend? Mark has the forecast. Looks like some wind today, tomorrow and then a bounce back to wonderful. If you're looking to rake leaves only once, Sunday is the day.

Of course we have some football as well. On Saturday, Michigan faces the Rutgers at SHI Stadium and Michigan State travels to Illinois for an NCAAF Week 10 matchup. The Detroit Lions remain at home for the second straight week as they welcome in the Green Bay Packers this Sunday.

A gentle reminder: MOVE YOUR CLOCKS BACK. You know, if you still have clocks that need a manual push... maybe the oven clock? Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. on Sunday.

The second largest jackpot in the history of Powerball is up for grabs

No winner yet: The Powerball jackpot is approaching world-record status as there was no winner of the $1.248 billion jackpot for the drawing held on Wednesday, Nov. 2.

The big bucks: That means the drawing on Saturday, Nov. 5 will be worth $1.5 billion with a cash option of $745.9 million. Why is the cash option for the Powerball drawing so low? The answer might surprise you.

Declining enrollment has Western Michigan University on budgetary tightrope

Less students, less money: Western Michigan University has 17,835 students this fall, its lowest enrollment since the 1960s. Falling enrollment has big financial implications. Fewer students means less tuition, which comprises two-thirds of WMU’s general fund budget.

Making changes: The Western Michigan University Board of Trustees approved the sale of a piece of property downtown to Kalamazoo County for $1,150,000 at its Thursday meeting.

Not alone: This is not a problem unique to WMU. Among Michigan’s 15 public universities, enrollment has dropped 11% since 2011, with Central and Eastern Michigan universities experiencing the most precipitous declines.

‘America is in crisis,’ Ted Cruz says as he stumps for Republican John Gibbs in Grand Rapids

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz fired up the Republican base in metro Grand Rapids Wednesday night, urging them to vote for GOP congressional candidate John Gibbs Nov. 8 because “our county is hanging in the balance.”

'No one should be subjected to violence': While there, Cruz also denounced political violence after the recent attack on Paul Pelosi, the husband of Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. Watch the video here.

Also in politics:Tudor Dixon’s campaign finance filings show the campaign spent more than $5,000 at two luxury clothing stores in August. Now, the Michigan Democratic Party has alleged in a complaint to the Michigan Department of State the campaign was buying designer clothes for Dixon, which they contend is against state campaign finance rules.

Lions say T.J. Hockenson is a good player, but they’re better off without him

Improving draft picks: The Detroit Lions have traded their leading receiver to a division rival, ostensibly making the worst team in the league even worse. But general manager Brad Holmes and head coach Dan Campbell say they believe they’re better off without T.J. Hockenson, talented as he might be.

Not surprised by the trade, but by the destination: New Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson had a feeling something might but coming at the trade deadline. But the 2019 first-round pick never thought he’d land in Minnesota via the Detroit Lions, sticking inside the NFC North.

Reactions from players: First-year offensive coordinator Ben Johnson says the trade hits close to home, with T.J. Hockenson being the player he's gotten the closest with over the past 3 and a half years. Rookie TE James Mitchell says he's ready to step up for the Detroit Lions following the trade.

10 best practices for hunters to follow during Michigan’s firearm deer season

Some advice: Conservation officers with the Department of Natural Resources have shared a list of best tips and practices to avoid common violations during the hunting season, which begins on Nov. 15. These include: properly tag your deer, respect landowners rights, and wear orange.

Also from the DNR: Michigan officials are reporting a successful early-season for elk hunters. They were 80% successful during hunting period 1, which took place Aug. 30 to Sept. 2, Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 30 to Oct. 3.

Let's talk turtles: Long-term survival of turtles covered in oil during the 2010 Kalamazoo River pipeline rupture disaster was proven to be improved by efforts to clean and rehabilitate them.
