Not every robocall is illegal. Sometimes, you get an automated call from your pharmacy reminding you your prescription is ready. That's perfectly legal. So are calls from nonprofits and political parties. But there are plenty of robocalls that are illegal and Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel wants to hear about every single one. Erosion claims lakefront home despite owner's attempts to save it

Lake Michigan erosion claimed one more home before 2019 came to an end. A family cottage near Montague fell off its foundation and was hurled onto the beach, with debris toppling into the water shortly before midnight on New Year's Eve. Huge waves caused up to 20 feet of erosion on the shoreline during autumn alone. Some other property owners chose to demolish houses last year before they succumbed to the erosion. MORE

Michigan recreational marijuana sales near $6.5M in first month
 
In December, recreational marijuana sales nearly hit $6.5 million, with the state getting almost $1 million in taxes. The number of licensed recreational marijuana businesses has grown to 54 as of yesterday, with 26 of those approved as retail shops. Experts expect adult-use marijuana to become a billion-dollar industry in Michigan by late 2021. MORE

Sure, marketing billboards and scripted commercials are the popular ways these days for a state to promote tourism. That hasn't always been the case, though. In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, aerial maps were used to attract visitors to Michigan towns.
