While downstate areas have been getting rounds of rain, thunder and even a weak tornado, Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula have been getting an astonishing amount of snow in the last few days with even more on the way. If you're wondering, the illustrious Gaylord Ice Tree, a winter icon, is still going strong nearly two weeks into spring. When will it end? No one is sure, but maybe this full Pink Moon that is sharing the sky with 3 bright planets this week is a sign. |

Historic Lake Michigan state park gets $245K to reestablish beach |
A makeover: Orchard Beach State Park hasn’t had a beach since 2017, when high water levels came up to the 100-foot bluff that the park sits atop and began eating away at it. However, a $245,000 project could help get it back. A quiet little lake filled with bass and bluegill: This beloved up-north fishing spot, Cornwall Creek Flooding in the Pigeon River Country State Forest, is at risk if dam isn’t rebuilt. Also in fishing, anglers are starting to see “steady numbers” and better catches of steelhead in Michigan’s northern Lower Peninsula.
