A group of Michigan men are claiming JUUL Labs targeted teens without warning of nicotine's addictiveness. And they are taking their claims to court. The men all claim to have become addicted to nicotine while vaping JUUL products during their teenage years. Additionally, the California attorney general has filed a suit against JUUL alleging the company marketed toward minors. Those caught stealing mail or packages in Michigan are now subject to prosecution under state law. Anyone charged for the first time will face a misdemeanor punishable by up to a year in jail, a fine of up to $500 or both. While stealing mail was already a federal crime, prosecution is usually reserved for the most egregious examples. Lawmakers are hoping the state law will deter low-level mail theft.
