Still have an unreturned absentee ballot for the Aug. 2 primary? Return it in person. |
This week, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson instructed voters who are still in possession of their absentee ballots to avoid mailing in the ballot. Instead, she explained, you should return it in person to your clerk's office or drop it in a local election drop box. It's possible if you mail the ballot at this point, it might not arrive to the clerk on time. The ballot needs to be in your clerk's possession by the time polls close at 8 p.m. Tuesday.
If you still want an absentee ballot, you can still request one by mail or in person. Get the details on the state's website. Happy voting!

Meet the Michigan family that has run a carnival for 165 years. |
The Skerbeck family:The Skerbeck Family Carnival dates back to 1857 when Frank Skerbeck Sr. traded in his linen factory for a small circus in Aussig, Bohemia. The family immigrated to America in the 1880′s and landed in the Midwest. Initially it was Wisconsin.
A coin flip for Michigan: After the Mackinac Bridge opened in 1957, a coin flip decided whether the carnival would expand further into Wisconsin or Michigan’s lower peninsula. The Great Lake State won and the Skerbeck carnival became one of Michigan’s longest running carnivals.
