 Oh no. Snow? In late April? Well, yeah. This is Michigan, after all. Would it even be the same state we know and love without a late-season snowfall? And this week appears to be the time for it. All the weather data continues to point toward a serious snow (for this late in spring) across southern Michigan, according to MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa. The timing is just right for a period of heavy, wet snow. Much of it is likely to fall overnight from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. How much is expected to fall in your area? READ MORE  More than 3.5 million Michigan residents have gotten their first COVID-19 vaccine. In addition to at least partial immunity against severe illness, they’ve also each come away with a paper card that details when and where they got their shot. If they got the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, it also notes when they should return for their second dose. While your COVID-19 vaccination record card isn’t the only way to prove you’ve been vaccinated, it’s a good idea to hold onto it as it could be useful down the road. The fourth-ranked Wolverines won their first national title with a score of 198.2500, edging out Oklahoma, Utah and Florida in Fort Worth, Texas. “I’m just so overwhelmed, and I’m so proud of this team,” Michigan head coach Bev Plocki told ABC right after the victory. “I’m so happy for the sacrifices, hard work and everything that they put into this season.” Congrats to this team of history-making Wolverines!  In the COVID-19 unit at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, every day is what nurse Deena Smith describes as “go, go, go constantly.” As Michigan endures a coronavirus surge that outpaces any other state, medical staff are on their third round of being overwhelmed. “I do feel like it’s been a little bit more hectic this time, just because it seems like we just have more people with this wave that are sicker,” Smith said. “It can also be that, you know, this is going into the third time that we’ve done this and we are exhausted, we are beat down.” MORE ►11 Michigan healthcare workers finalists for award dedicated to service during pandemic  Paige Lackey is about to embark on a grand outdoors adventure: a five-month statewide RV tour of Michigan’s rustic state forest campgrounds. While that might sound like a dream vacation to some, the trip is actually part of Lackey’s work as a Huron Pines AmeriCorps member serving with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. The plan, named “Project Rustic,” is to visit 77 of Michigan’s 145 state forest campgrounds across Northern Lower Michigan and the Upper Peninsula to help improve information access for backcountry travelers to these remote and often little-known sites.
