President Donald Trump visited Michigan yesterday, taking a tour of a Ford plant in Ypsilanti Township before delivering remarks regarding the coronavirus and the economy. Trump referred to the recent resumption of auto manufacturing as proof that the country can safely reopen segments of the economy. The owners of the Edenville Dam, the Midland County structure that failed Tuesday and caused severe flooding, say they were pressured by the state to keep water levels at Wixom Lake high, leading to the dam failure. In 2018, the state's eviction filing rate was 17 percent, which was Michigan's lowest rate of eviction filings since 2011. The low numbers are likely to change after a recession hit the state following the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic.
