The preparation for Halloween stresses me out for the same reason every year, and it's all because I live in Michigan. Figuring out a costume that works with the cold weather is always a challenge. And since most of the state is expected to receive some sort of snowfall on Halloween, a thick coat is preferred. If you still haven’t decided on what to wear, these are the 10 most popular costumes for 2023. Speaking of costumes, a Kalamazoo shop is selling its rentals after they made Hollywood cameos. |

UAW reaches tentative agreement with Ford |
An update: Ford and the United Auto Workers have reached a tentative agreement as the Stand Up strike rounds out 41 days. Details: The contract will be shared with members who will vote whether or not to ratify the contract. In the meantime, 20,000 Ford employees will return to work to restart production at the Kentucky Truck Plant, Michigan Assembly Plant and Chicago Assembly Plant. Numbers: The agreement grants 25% in base wage increases through April 2028, and will cumulatively raise the top wage by over 30% to more than $40 an hour, and raise the starting wage by 68%, to over $28 an hour. |

Stormy pattern for Michigan will stick around |
The wet weather is going to continue: Two storm systems traveling across the U.S. will bring periods of showers and thundershowers through Michigan until Friday night and then will start again Sunday into Monday. Things are taking a turn for the chilly, and with the falling temperatures the chance for snow showers is coming for Northern Michigan. Some snow could end up sticking around and give a bit of cover on the ground. Look up: Stargazers in the Northern Hemisphere have a great opportunity right now to see Sirius, Earth’s brightest nighttime star. |

Taking an Uber to vote is illegal in Michigan. Soon, it won’t be. |
Did you know? Paying for a rideshare like Uber or Lyft to get you to your voting location is illegal, a misdemeanor offense with possible jail time. That is, however, until Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signs House Bill 4568. The bill makes it legal to pay for a ride to a polling place. A requirement: A bipartisan group of lawmakers introduced a long-awaited package of legislation that details what state government elected officials must include in Michigan’s first-ever financial disclosures. In education: A Free Application for Federal Student Aid, the form for prospective college students, would be required to graduate high school under a bill advancing in the Michigan Legislature. |

Sideline videos of Michigan football’s alleged sign-stealing staffer emerge |
Another piece of the puzzle: Suspended Michigan analyst Connor Stalions is a low-level staffer with the football program, but sideline photos and videos of Stalions have surfaced this week that could suggest how significant of a role he serves on game days for the Wolverines. In East Lansing: Michigan State ruled fired football coach Mel Tucker sexually harassed former university vendor Brenda Tracy according to her lawyer, Karen Truszkowski. For the NFL: The Detroit Lions are heading into Monday Night Football as heavy-betting favorites against the Las Vegas Raiders. |

Faygo unveils new pop flavor which tastes just like an Orange Creamsicle |
Take a sip: The historic Michigan soda pop company’s new creation is called “Faygo Dreamin.” The orange creme soda gradually began hitting store shelves yesterday across the state and everywhere Faygo pop is sold. Snag a slice: Domino’s Pizza announced this week that it is giving away $1 million worth of free pizzas to anyone with student loan payments. Pick a fry: McDonald’s is offering customers a free order of french fries every week for the rest of 2023 as part of the national fast-food chain’s latest promotion. |
