Pick your path by clicking a link below: Michigan has reported 233 COVID-19 infections in which an individual was infected by the delta variant, an increase of 165% from last week’s count. The known cases are spread throughout 39 counties, according to data released Wednesday, Aug. 4, from the Department of Health and Human Services. Counties with the most identified cases include Oakland, Wayne, Kent, Branch, Macomb and Ottawa. Before the latest update, Michigan had 88 known delta variant infections. It’s not immediately clear if any particular event led to the considerable increase. READ MORE June and July saw the return of live music concerts in Michigan, but the amount of shows those two months pales in comparison to the August schedule. Just about every big venue in Michigan has a full slate of concerts this month, a schedule not seen since before the COVID pandemic forced most shows to be postponed in 2020. Right now, all of these concerts, whether indoors or outdoors, have no attendance restrictions. We have a list here of all the big concerts happening within our state this month and beyond: CHECK IT OUT Michigan State athletics is undergoing a change at the top of the department. Athletic director Bill Beekman is stepping down and will remain with the university in a new position as vice president for strategic initiatives, Michigan State president Samuel Stanley Jr. announced on Thursday afternoon. Beekman will remain athletic director until a replacement is found and a national search firm has been hired. Beekman, who replaced Mark Hollis, has been the full-time athletic director since July 2018 and was under contract through 2023 with an annual salary of $750,000. READ Warren Dunes State Park in Berrien County is a 1,952-acre treasure. The park has a dog beach, dune climb and six miles of trails through the woods and sand. If you love the outdoors, it is definitely worth adding to your list of must-visit spots in Michigan. Sure, you've been to Sleeping Bear Dunes, but the more dunes the better! Right?
