What you need to know about measles in Washtenaw County |
Washtenaw County health officials warned of potential exposure to measles at one local emergency department on Sunday. The first measles case in Michigan since 2019 was reported on Feb. 23 in an Oakland County child. A third case was also reported in Wayne County on Sunday. Definition: Measles is a highly contagious, vaccine-preventable disease that is spread by direct person-to-person contact and through the air. Symptoms of measles usually begin seven to 14 days after exposure but can appear up to 21 days after exposure. Continue reading. Explosive fatal fire outside Detroit was at site used by vape suppliers |
Monday night: A fire that destroyed a building, which housed supplies for the vaping industry, caused multiple explosions that killed one person and injured a firefighter as the blasts rocked Clinton Township, sending gas cannisters and debris shooting far into the air, authorities said. Police confirmed a 19-year-old man died after he was hit by shrapnel coming from the fire. Officials say the man was observing the fire in the area of 15 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway when a canister of combustible material exploded and struck him. More in public interest: A dispute over property taxes is halting efforts to rebuild four hydroelectric dams and restore impoundments damaged by the 2020 mid-Michigan flood. |

‘You failed your pledge,’ Saginaw judge tells ex-MSP trooper sentenced for punching ‘cuffed man |
Before sentencing him to 12 months of probation and a $1,000 fine, a judge scolded a now-former Michigan State Police trooper captured on camera repeatedly punching a handcuffed man in Saginaw. An update: Charge dismissed against county leader after ‘racially motivated’ Walmart incident. In transportation: Amtrak plans to temporarily cut down on its train routes so workers can make track upgrades, the company said. |
