There's no way around it: The timing of Mark Dantonio's retirement is awkward. It was post-bonus, amidst lawsuit and one day before signing day. But alas, Michigan State is knee deep in a coaching search and at a major crossroads between recent glory and future uncertainty. Tuesday, in an interview with ESPNU radio, the most talked about candidate, Luke Fickell, said he has not "talked to anybody besides Mark Dantonio in the last three, four weeks from Michigan State." Asked if MSU will have trouble finding its next coach, Dantonio abruptly responded, "Are you kidding me? People will run to here, they'll crawl here."
