Let it snow? A white Christmas is looking likely for much of Michigan There has been a notable absence of snow in much of Michigan so far this December. We know many of you are hoping for some snowfall to arrive this week so you can enjoy a white Christmas. According to MLive Chief Meteorologist Mark Torregrossa, those snow lovers might be getting exactly what they want for the holiday. A lake-effect snow pattern appears to be in the works for Christmas Day. The exact details of who will see the flakes fall and exactly how much we'll get is a little trickier. They now await signatures from Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and President Donald Trump before becoming official. The money is split among a variety of causes, including unemployment aid, direct stimulus payments, money for struggling businesses, funding for vaccine distribution and more. Instead, it's getting 120,900. Michigan is getting less than half the COVID-19 vaccine doses it anticipated this week, the result of “miscommunication” from federal officials about vaccine shipments. “We are working with local partners to get vaccine out into the priority groups, currently Phase 1A, as quickly as possible,” said Michigan Department of Health and Human Services spokeswoman Lynn Sutfin. “Receiving less vaccine than expected requires us to readjust distribution plans and will mean fewer healthcare workers getting vaccinated in the timeline originally planned.” MORE Don Brown’s time at Michigan is up. The 65-year-old defensive coordinator was dismissed by the school on Tuesday after five seasons. MORE ►What went wrong for Michigan football in 2020 A man who is among those experiencing homelessness in Grand Rapids says the people who have been camping in Heartside Park need more help during the coronavirus pandemic. “Coronavirus is going around rampant and the shelters are overcapacitiated [sic],” said Michael Camp, who has been sleeping at the park. “People are really panicking.” Fears surrounding the coronavirus remain, but a new challenge facing those camping in the park was a move by the city this week to clear the encampment on Monday.
