Before we move on, let's look back. July was a very wet month for half of northern Lower Michigan and very dry for the other half. For Southern Michigan, it was overall a very wet month with some areas receiving over 10 inches of rain. Now looking forward, this week will continue to have unsettled weather for the Upper Peninsula, with chances of rain nearly every day of this week. |

What they are: Cohousing communities - neighborhoods of individual residences that are intentionally designed for interactions. Michigan currently has five cohousing communities with a sixth in development. Speaking to the source: Residents at communities in Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids spoke with MLive about the appeal of their unique neighborhoods, saying shared meals, garden plots, tool sheds and common spaces allow them to feel more closely connected to their community. Michigan crash survivors injured before 2019 no-fault law retain full care |
A decision has been made: The Michigan Supreme Court ruled Monday that changes to Michigan’s no-fault auto insurance law didn’t reduce benefits to those catastrophically injured by automobiles, a win for thousands of Michiganders who require around-the-clock medical care. Under the changes brought about by the 2019 reforms, insurers only have to pay roughly half of the fees charged for patient treatment, and many had said that left the level of care they required financially out of reach. An update: New security equipment to crack down on firearms entering Michigan Capitol grounds will be installed in early August, with the system fully expected to be online shortly after the Labor Day holiday. |

So proud: It took Chloe Ricketts just four appearances in the top women’s soccer league in the U.S. to make history once again when the 16-year-old Dexter became the youngest player to score a goal in a National Women’s Soccer League game. 25 years after swim across Lake Michigan, Jim ‘The Shark’ Dreyer takes on bigger challenge |
Twenty-five years after he swam across Lake Michigan, Jim Dreyer is diving back into the big lake for an even longer swim, from Milwaukee to Grand Haven.
