Gov. Whitmer signs bill overhauling Michigan auto insurance
 
Relief is on the way for Michiganders dealing with the highest auto insurance rates in the country. Governor Gretchen Whitmer on Thursday signed an insurance reform package aimed at lowering costs and tweaking the state's no fault system. The bills passed handily in both the House and Senate before reaching Whitmer's desk. Whitmer said in a news release, "This historic deal shows that, when we put party aside, we can find common ground on our state's toughest issues to provide realistic and affordable coverage options for drivers across Michigan." MORE

New Isle Royale wolf found dead
 
Isle Royale's wolf relocation project recently suffered its second on-island death. Since last fall, 14 wolves have been caught in Minnesota and Canada and been brought to the Lake Superior archipelago. Two new wolves have died on the island, one captured wolf died before transport and one fled back home when the lake froze over. MORE

Saginaw sisters share honor as valedictorians
 
Last year, Arthur Hill High School's valedictorian was Mason Gates. This year, her sister Morgan is the Saginaw school's top grad. On top of sharing the distinction of graduating with 4.0 grade-point averages and the title of Arthur Hill valedictorian, the siblings will also share their college experience at Michigan State University, where Mason and Morgan both plan to obtain engineering degrees.
